George F. Kennan, former U.s. Ambassador to Russia, will address Radcliffe's 72nd commencement Exercises today as 237 seniors receive their Bachelor of Arts degrees.
Together with 129 candidates for advanced degrees and 74 members of the Management Training. Program, the Annex class of '54 will march from the Radcliffe Yard to Sanders theatre at 11 a.m. Julius S. Boxier, President of Colby College and a Radcliffe trustee, will give the invocation and benediction.
On the Sanders stage, along with the Radcliffe trustees, will be Professor of English J. Douglas Bush, Harvard's official representative.
Dickson, Fisher Lead
Lois Dickson senior class marshal, and Nancy Fisher, commencement chairman, will lead the procession. Mrs. John M. Maguire, college marshal, will lead the college officers and trustees, and Mrs. Janet James is the graduate students' marshal. The Harvard Band, conducted by G. Wright Briggs '31, will play at the exercises.
Forty-eight per cent of the senior class will receive honors and four of them will graduate summa cum laude. Those getting the highest honor that Radcliffe can confer are Phyllis T. Bodel, Mrs. Anne Fairchild stevens, Jeanne Erard, and Beatrice Tugendhat.
Radcliffe President Wilbur K. Jordas will award 52 Master of Arts degrees, 59 Master's degrees in leaching, and 18 Doctorates.
Last night the graduating class held its traditional Senior Class Night, which was highlighted by the presentation of the Class Banner to freshman representatives.
The Senior Class formal dance, scheduled for outdoors, was shifted inside to Moors Hall last night because of rain.
