Rearranged Nine to Battle Army In 3 P.M. Game at Soldiers Field

Hopefully, the Big Shift may finally work today. For at 3:00 p.m., Coach Stuffy McInnis will again rearrange his varsity baseball lineup in an effort to prove against Army that the Crimson, strong on paper, can display parallel strength on Soldiers Field.

As usual, his principal changes will be in the infield, where George Anderson will start at first, replacing sturdy John Maher, whose hitting has been disappointing. Bill Cleary, fourth leading batter in the Eastern league with a .385 mark, returns to second base after playing at third, and senior Ray Maesaka is back in the starting lineup at the latter position.

McInnis has now benched sophomore Hal McKinney, filling in for injured Ed Krinsky, and will start Art Noyes at shortstop.

MacDonald Behind Plate

Back behind the plate after several games on the bench is George MacDonald, but there will be no outfield change, with Jim Rahal, Dick Scheer, and Don Butters starting.

Probable starting pitcher will be Bob Kessler, a surprising sophomore, who is starting his second varsity game since blanking Columbia with no hits two weeks ago.

Tomorrow evening, the varsity leaves by plane for Ithaca, where it will meet Cornell Saturday afternoon.

Yesterday, the JV game with Suffolk University was washed out, but the freshmen managed to squeeze in a 9 to 7 victory over Dean Academy at Franklin.
