Five University Men Will Receive Awards For Academic Records

The University yesterday announced the winners of prizes for 1953-54.

Andrew T. Cole, Jr. '54 will receive the Bowdoin (Classics) prize of $100 for a translation into Attic Greek of a passage from Cedric H. Whitman's "Sophocles, A Study of Herolic Humanism." Kenneth J. Reckford '54 will get an Honorable Mention.

For a translation into Latin of a passage from Lily Ross Taylor's "Party Politics in the Age of Caesar," Joseph A. PagHaruolo '55 will receive a $100 prize.

The Bohemian Club award of income from a special fund will go to David G. Hughes 2G for his composition, "Sarabande for Violin and Piano."

B. David Lewin '54 will receive the Wister Prize for the senior concentrating in Mathematics who has the highest record in that field.

A prize of $200 and a silver medal will go to Walter J. Kaiser '54 for a group of poems entitled "The Usual Subjects."
