Golfers Beat Bowdoin For Second Home Win

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Playing Bowdoin proved to be just another practice round for the varsity golf team yesterday as the golfers shut out the Polar Bears, 7 to 0, at Dedham.

Although every man on the team won, none of the golfers turned in scores comparable to those in Wednesday's 6 to 1 defeat of Boston University. The team's stroke total against Bowdoin was 520; against B.U. it was 509.

Captain Jack Brophy, shooting a 72, won the most decisive victory, 8 and 7. Ted Cooney won 6 and 5 with a 74, and Bruce Thurmond shot a 73 to win, 5 and 4.

Other winners were Bill McAllister, who carded a 75 and won, 4 and 3.2 Jim Jones won 4 and 2, and Pete Malkin won 2 up, shooting a 72. Doug Boyd added a 2-and-1 win.

The varsity's next home match is Monday against Babson.
