Beaten by M.I.T. sailors in meets on Saturday and Sunday, the varsity yachtsmen rebounded yesterday to outrace the Engineers and four other colleges on the Charles, thereby winning the Oberg trophy and the Boston area championship.

The varsity lost Saturday, 3 to 2, in a dual meet with M.I.T., and Sunday placed second to M.I.T. in a seven-college regatta at Providence.

Yesterday the Crimson skippers tallied 114 points to 99 for second-place M.I.T., and smaller totals for B.C., B.U., Tufts, and Northeastern, in that order.

The Yardling sailors, meanwhile, in a heptagonal regatta on Mystic Lake, scored 40 points to place second to the Tufts freshmen who has 56 points.
