The Crimson rugby team, 20 men strong, flies south to Bermuda this weekend, favored to win the island's vacation tournament for the first time in many years. The varsity has a 2-0 record.
After a 40-minute warm-up scrimmage against Toronto, the Crimson fifteen plays its first official tournament contest Monday against Princeton for the college crown. If the varsity is victorious, it will face Dartmouth the following Saturday for the championship. Dartmouth has drawn a bye.
A victory in the college championships will entitle the Crimson to compete Sunday for the International Championships. The four teams entered in the International bracket include Toronto, the Pensacola Wanderers, a U.S. Navy team, and the Bermuda Athletic Association.
Captain Frank Lombardi will start for the varsity at scrum-half, with Larry Boise and Joe Conzelman supporting the wing positions. Woody Simpson and John Nichols will provide the mainstay of the Crimson defense.
The team has defeated the New York Rugby Club in its two matches so far.
