Health School Studies Exchange With Orient

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dr. Hugh R. Leavell, professor of Public Health, yesterday announced a plan for an exchange of students between the School of Public Health and several institutions in the Orient. His plan will be submitted in the near future for approval to the international committee of the School and then to the whole faculty.

Leavell's plan resulted from a 25,000 mile trip which he has just completed. His tour of the East included talks with the King of Thailand and Syngman Rhee of Korea.

Leavell, who was accompanied on his trip by Dean James S. Simmons of the School of Public Health, reported he found in Japan "the most remarkable improvement in health ever brought about in a short period."
