The Jaffee Club defeated the Scott Club in the annual Ames Competition at the Law School last night.
Henry G. Wenzel, Jr., judge in the New York Court of Appeals, was chief jurist.
Oralists for the winning Jaffee Club were John D. Stoner and Allen R. Trustman; oralists for the Scott Club were Bradford P. Colcord and Richard F. deLima. All are 2L.
The case involved an appeal of a contempt of court conviction by a woman who had carried a sandwich sign in front of a courthouse. The sign criticized the racial composition of the court.
In winning the case the Jaffee Club argued in behalf of the woman and against the government.
Other members of the Jaffee Club were John B. Hook, William N. Jenkins, Curtis M. Karplus, Andreas F. Lowenfeld, Richard M. Sandler, and L. John Wood. Again, all are 2L.
