The varsity fencing team will meet a strong team from Columbia University this afternoon at 3:45 in the I.A.B.
Coach Edo Marion will use a split lineup against the Lions in the foil event with three men fencing only two bouts instead of the customary three, and only one man appearing in all three. Foils starters are Paul Forand, Walt Rawis, Steve Schneider, and Cliff Thompson.
The sabre team will consist of John Craig, Dave Kenney, and John Livingston. Phil Erard, Bill Pierskalia, and Captain Les Scherer will appear in the epee division.
Freshman Slate Yale
In Pentagonal matches held in the New York City Athletic Club over the weekend, the varsity finished fifth behind Navy, Yale, Princeton, and Army. Thompson, Plerskalla, and Livingston were high scorers.
The next varsity match is scheduled here Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Cetrulo Fencing Club.
The Yardlings next meet Yale at New Haven March 6. A freshman meet with Clark University, scheduled for last Saturday, was cancelled because the Clark team had disbanded.
