Despite protests from its two largest dormitories, Radcliffe's social chairmen yesterday voted to "experiment" with this year's Christmas Formal by inviting extra men.
the social chairmen met yesterday afternoon and confirmed earlier plans to hold one large Christmas dance in Agassiz. The committee stressed that this year's plan to invite extra men is "only an experiment" and subject to consideration after the dance.
The vote came despite strong objections from Cabot and Moors Halls, which earlier in the day had gone on record against the motion to invite stags.
At Cabot, amid cries of "My steady won't come if I ask stags," students over whelmingly vetoed the "stag" proposal by a vote of 104 to four. Moors social chairmen were instructed not to reveal the majority by which Moors residents turned down the proposal.
"I'm sick and tired of being mauled at Jolly-Ups by hordes of men," one Cabot student reportedly stated in objecting to the motion.
At yesterday's meeting, the chairmen decided changes from the procedures of former Christmas Formals were necessary because they felt far too few students had attended the dance in the past.
The committee emphasized that stags will not be charges admission, and will be invited by formal invitation. They will be chosen form a list submitted by all Cliffedwellers who wish to have extra men at the dance.
