Faculty Purchases New Buck Portrait

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Paul H. Buck, professor of History and former provost and dean of Arts and Sciences until his resignation in Feb., 1953, is currently sitting for a portrait which will hang in the faculty room of University Hall.

Contributions from faculty members are financing the cost of the portrait, which is being painted by Gardner Cox '27. It will hang among portraits of former presidents and deans of Harvard.

Buck was acting-president after President-emeritus Conant retired last January until the Overseers selected a new president. He is a graduate of Ohio State University and received his Ph.D. degree at Harvard in 1935.
