To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
I am shocked to note that the CRIMSON has fallen heir to Dr. Hunt's racist propaganda, ("Girls May Become Lanky Hillbillies," Jan. 14). As a descendant of that small but courageous band of Frenchmen who migrated to Canada in the early 16th century, I find your pseudo-scientific comments a blot on the blossom of French-Canadian womanhood.
We French-Canadians are proud of our virility, but we do not consider our amorous pursuits a mere program of nationalized procreation. To say that our off spring will be "short and squat, with their eyes close together" is an intolerable conjecture. Do you seriously believe that such a hardy stock will bear your personal insult without seeking some measure of revenge?
Picture if you can, angry hordes of Canucks storming down from the hills of the St. Lawrence Basin, their short stumpy legs marching determinately through New Hampshire snows, their close-set eyes fixed rigidly on the Cambridge area. Dr. Hunt had better pack up his Complete Works of Margaret Meade immediately and head for the security of the Anglo Saxon hinterlands. Plerre A. Provost '54
