Culver Tops Defense, Offense in Workout; JVs Use T-Formation

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Fullback John-Culver stood out on both offense and defense yesterday as Coach Lloyd Jordan sent the Crimson football team through a heavy workout that included scrimmage between varsity and junior varsity elevens.

Culver, who is seeing his first regular action as a defensive back under the single platoon system, stopped several junior varsity backs with jarring tackles. The jayvees employed the T-formation, the offense favored by Saturday's opening game opponent Ohio University.

Then, when the teams switched, and the varsity took over with its single-wing offensive, Culver and Captain Dick clasby did much of the ball carrying, including several sizable gains.

Back in action Tuesday was lineman, sophomore Orville Tice, who had been sidelined with an infected hand.
