The varsity lacrosse team, undefeated in the New England Lacrosse League, should win its sixth straight this afternoon at 3 p.m. on the Busy School Field when it plays underdog New Hampshire.
The Grimson hasn't lost since its disastrous Southern trip. The spring vacation games are considered practice, so the team still has a chance at an undefeated season. Since returning North Coach Bruce Munro's men have scored 64 goals to the opposition's 23.
Phil Waring, crease attackman for the Crimson, is at the present time leading the nation's scorers with 23 goals. He will start, with the team's other two attackmen Ed Curtis and Monk Aiello. Both Curtis and Aiello rank high in the national picture in number of assists.
At midfield Munro will start his usual first combination of Captain Ron Huebsch, highest scoring midfielder in the team, Fred Horween, and lefty Hank Wood. Jim Telfer, Skip Baldwin, and probably Todd Goodwin will be in the second midfield and Chuck Edwards, Bob Larsen and Pete Palches will make up the third. This will be the first game in over a month in which Munro has had three regular mid-fields ready for action.
Paul Jones, Tom Crump, and Ted Sexton are slated to start at defense. John Hartwell will fill in for any one of the starting three for at least part of the game. Goalie Steve Den Hartog has the starting assignment sewed up and will remain in the cage at least as long as the outcome is in doubt--which shouldn't be too long.
New Hampshire unimpressively defeated M.I.T. by two goals earlier this year. The Crimson took the Engineers, 17 to 5, last week and in this case comparative scores do mean something. The field will be muddy after yesterday's heavy rains and there will be considerable slipping around in the vicinity of the New Hampshire goal--the visitors don't figure to spend much time near the Harvard goal.
