Yale's championship golf team defeated the varsity 6 to 1 on a sloppy Dedham Country Club course Saturday afternoon.
Ted Cooney, playing number one for the Varsity, lost on the 19th hold to Jerry Fehr. Fehr had beaten Cooney last week in the Eastern Intercollegiate In number two position the Crimson's Bruce Thurmond lost to Murray Vernon, one up on the 18th hole.
Crimson medalist Jack Brophy was the only varsity winner as he shot a 70 to defeat Jack Wislar one up on the 19th hole. Captain Dave Hedberg was edged by Eli Jim Holding. Hockey star Wally Kilrea stopped the varsity's Pete Malkin, 4and 3, and Yale's Arnold Lipman topped sophomore Jim Jones, three and one. In number seven spot Doug Boyd lost to Doug Stevens two and one.
