Tennis Club Plays Dartmouth Today Minus Two Stars

With two of its most consistent winners out of the line-up, the varsity tennis team takes on a strong Dartmouth contingent here this afternoon at 1:45 p.m.

Tomorrow Coach Jack Barnaby's group will meet powerful Yale on the Soldiers Field courts, and Friday will take off for the New England Intercollegiates at Amherst.

Gene Mann, who turned in three set victories against both Princeton and North Carolina last week, came down with an attack of appendicitis half way through the trip South. Don Bossart has taken over Mann's number five spot.

Sixth man Dave Watts turned his ankle against Pennsylvania last Monday, and will be out at least this week. His injury moves Don Spencer up to the sixth post.

Lineup Changed

With Terry King also out of the lineup, the whole bottom end of the order has been reshuffled. Herb Stone will play seven, Steve Sonnabend eight, Frank Goodman nine, and Paul Trinchieri ten.

The top of the order remains set with Johny Rauh at one, captain Charlie Ufford at two, Art French at three, and Alex Haegler at four.

The Indians topped the Crimson 6 to 3 last year. This year Jack Barnaby plans to play ten singles and five doubles. The last seven singles will not start until 2:30 p.m.

The Crimson turned in only a mediocre showing against Penn on Monday. Barnaby was displeased with the 6 to 3 win over the Quarkers, especially since Yale topped Penn 9 to 0.

Corey Wynn's freshmen also meet Dartmouth here today. Captain Ham Graven will play one as usual, Brooks Harris two, Martin Heckscher three, and Conrad Fischer four. Karl Purnell and Steve Kay round out the top six.
