Jehnny Lee, captain of the varsity wrestling team for the past two years, finished third in the 24th annual NCAA wrestling meet held at Penn State over the weekend.
Competing against 25 others in the 123 pound division, Lee won five out of six bouts in two days, losing only to the eventual class champion, Dick Mueller of Minnesota.
Lee took three bouts Friday, with decisions over Gibson of Washington State, 6 to 0, Fiegal of Waynesburg, 4 to 0, and Hockley of Wyoming, 4 to 2. After losing a 7-1 decision to Mueller in the semifinals Saturday, Lee went on to clinch third place with decisions of Crancer of Arkansas and McCarron of Iowa Teachers.
Lee finishes his season at the National AAU tourney in Toledo April 9-11, where he will seek to regain the national title he held in 1951. Last year he placed third in the AAU championships.
