The tennis team's depth paid off against the poorly conditioned Business School yesterday. Jack Barnaby's crew cleaned up in the lower positions to win the annual match, 11 to 4, on the Soldiers Field courts.

The Crimson's three top players, John Rauh, Captain Charley Ufford, and Gene Mann, all dropped close decisions, but the varsity took the seven remaining singles to ice the match.

Rauh fell before ex-Princeton standout Gerry Thomas in a ground stroke battle, 7-5, 6-3, at the number one position.

Ufford tangled with Al Schwartz, last year's top man at Yale, in the day's closest match. By concentrating on Schwartz's relatively weak backhand, the Crimson captain led by a set, and then five games to one in the second, when the ex-Eli came back brilliantly. The final score was 4-6, 8-6, 6-4 for Schwartz.

At three, former Crimson star Bob Bramhall topped Mann, 7-5 and 7-5.

From there on it was all Crimson, Don Bossart won over Bud Tremain, 6-1, 7-5 at four. Alex Haegler clipped the Business School's Jack Banks, 6-2, 6-2. At six spot, Steve Sonnabend topped Jerry Murphy, 6-3, 6-3. Terry King clipped Bob Jeffrey, 6-3, 6-4. Herb Stone went three sets to beat Perry Herst, and Paul Trinchieri rounded out the varsity's singles victories with a straight set decision over Ed Leede.
