Varsity golf players overpowered Boston University's golf team, 6 to 1, yesterday at the Oakley Country Club in Watertown, for their season's first victory.

Jack Brophy was the star of the Crimson team, beating B.U.'s Len Rumpler with seven up and six holes to go. The varsity's only defeat came at the hands of B.U.'s Dick Wallace, who outlasted Claud Hooton with three up and two to go.

Heavy winds and a sloppy course hampered the scores of both teams. But the Crimson managed to win all but one of its individual contests.

Today, the varsity plays M.I.T. and Bowdoin in a triangular match at the Oakley course. The freshman team plays its first match today against Governor Dummer at South Byfield.
