Brown University hit its own winter sports program hard yesterday when it declared 21 of its varsity and freshman athletes scholastically ineligible for sports. The statement was the result of a drastic now eligibility program instituted at Brown this term.
As a result of the action, the Bruins will face the Crimson's once-defeated hockey team this Saturday without the services of Bob Copp, its regular goalie. Dick Mulhern will also be absent from the Bruin's hockey roster.
The Bears will also miss the services of eight men when they face the Crimson on the indoor track at Cambridge Saturday afternoon.
Badly hurt was the swimming team, which lost its captain and star middle distance swimmer, Don Cameron, and two freshman swimmers. Basketball also lost three men, one of them Ed Tooley the varsity's second leading scorer for the season.
The Brain's wrestling squad lost two varsity men and two freshmen.
