Harvard's top amateur skater Dudley S. Richards '54 ranked sixth out of 15 skaters in the finals of yesterday's world figure skating championships at Davos, Switzerland.

The former United States Junior Champion competed for the title vacated by dick Button 1L, who held it for five consecutive years before turning professional last winter.

Top place went to Hayes A. Jenkins of Akron, who out skated his teammate, Jimmy Grogan of Colorado, in the final freestyle round to cop the coveted award.

This winter's competition marks the second year Richards, former Eastern Junior Champion, and New England Junior champ, has skated in Europe. Last year he went as teammate of champion Dick Button.

Richards was nosed out for fifth place by a French boy nine years, younger than he. Earlier in the competition Richards had earned more points than the French star, but lost out in the final round.
