Charity Donation Ends Below Mark

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Ramstrung by a University ruling that prohibits deferred payment through the term bill, the Combined Charities ended a disappointing drive last Friday, $6,000 short of its $18,000 goal.

Robert C. Terry, Jr. '54. Co Chairman of the charity drive, admitted that he was "sorely disappointed" at the failure of students to meet a quota already lowered by $4,000. In explanation Terry noted that they had "collected about twice as much money out of pocket" as last year's drive, but that losing the convenience of the term bill system had severely hampered them.

"I guess it shows that students find it easier to bill their parents for their donations," he said.
