Cambridge police and firemen may win three extra days of vacation with pay by catching adult false-alarm pullers in the city.

The city council has instructed City Manager John J. Curry to confer with Fire Chief John F. Collins and Police Chief Patrick F. Ready to discuss the advisability of adopting the three-days-off reward permanently. The action came after Councilman Edward A. Crane pointed out that at least 25 false alarms have been sounded in the last few weeks.

According to the Council's recommendation, if the idea is adopted, any policeman, fireman, or group of officers who apprehend or "cause to be apprehended" any adult false alarm sounders will receive the extra vacation with pay.

Several of the alarms have been sounded in the Yard and in the Houses allegedly by Harvard students.

In fact, recent charges by Cambridge Fire Department officials indicated a close watch was to be kept in the Yard for possible offenders.
