Three Scientists Are Appointed as Full Professors

Provost Buck yesterday announced the appointment of three natural scientists to full professorships.

They are: Donald R. Griffin Cornell appointed professor of Geology; Eugene G. Rochow, appointed professor OF Chemistry; and Carroll M. Williams appointed professor of Geology.

Griffin is now an associate professor at Cornell. An experimental naturalist, he was a junior Fellow and a Research Associate in the Psycho-Acoustic, Fatigue and Biological Laboratories here.

Rochow received the Bakeland Medal for outstanding work on compounds of silicon. A research chemist for general Electric for 13 years, Rochow was made an associate professor in 1943.

In 1950, Williams was awarded the American Association for the Advancement of Science prize for an outstanding contribution to science. This resulted from his work on insect metamorphic.
