Professor MacLeish Awarded $1,000 Bollingen Poetry Prize

Archibald MacLeish, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, has received one of two Bollingen Poetry Prize awards made this year, it was announced Saturday.

Physician-poet William Carlos Williams of Rutherford, N.J., will receive $1,000 along with MacLeish.

James T. Babb, Yale librarian, announcing the award, said MacLeish was honored "for the vigor, grace, and thoughtfulness of his book, 'Collected Poems 1917-1952," published last year.
