Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
Eight House football teams trotted onto Soldiers Field yesterday for the first full-scale practice of the 1952 season.
None of the squads was at full strength, with labs and afternoon classes cutting down attendance. All Houses will be allowed to recruit--residents only, that is,--until October 2. The round-robin schedule opens October 8, with each squad slated for seven games.
All participants must pass a Hygiene Department physical examination before reporting. Equipment, including shoes, is supplied by the Athletic Association.
Meanwhile, all teams went through calisthenics and preliminary play formation. Intramural Director Dolph Samborski watched (above) while Leverett Coach Paul Staley drilled quarterback Bucky O'Connor (right) and halfback Johnny Bethell in the intricacies of the Bunnies' T-formation. Staley, Dartmouth captain in 1950, directed Leverett to the House Championship last year.
