Harvard lost the services of right halfback John Tulenko for the remainder of the season, it was learned yesterday. Tulenko had been sidelined with a knee injury lat last season and has not dressed for any practices this fall. He will undergo medical observation.
Bernie Kafka, sophomore hopeful, also will be lost to the Crimson for the remainder of the season due to a hernia in the first week of practice.
Fifteen other football players were sidelined during the first week of practice due to injuries ranging from a broken wrist to pulled muscles.
Bill Zwilling, another sophomore, broke his wrist the third day of practice and will be out of action for at least two weeks. Sophomore George Clark suffered a slight concussion Wednesday, but from the indications of his performance Saturday, will be in good shape for practice this week.
Other Injuries
Also sidelined with injuries last week were: Herb Collins, Bill Monteith, Sam Dyock, Ron Messer, Art Pappas, Hank Rate, Harvey Rate, Harvey Popell, Tim Anderson, Ron Noonan, Tony Caimi and Lee Markoff.
Coach Lloyd Jordan was not able to tell whether the dropping of spring practice has caused an increase in the number of injuries this fall. "It is too early to be able to say whether the lack of spring practice will have any effect on the 1952 team," Jordan said.
Jordan has only two weeks in which to prepare for the Springfield game and the large amount of injuries have put a dent in the advancement of the team.
