Hoppin Chosen to Lead Team Racing Middle Atlantic Squad

Charlie Hoppin, one of the salling team's aces, was this week named captain of the New England all-star team which will race a similar Middle Atlantic squad for the Pine Trophy at Coast Guard, September 20 and 21.

The trophy rules stipulate that only one skipper per college can be picked for the team. Hoppin won the captaincy on the basis of his fine performance over the fall of 1951, when he was top skipper in the area. He finished second in the spring competition.

Crimson sophomore Jim Nathanson--first in the spring, eighth in the fall--was selected as Hoppin's alternate.
