Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
If the varsity baseball team can settle down and get a few hits, it may be able to upset Northeastern's fast, well-balanced club at Soldiers Field at 3:45 p.m. today.
But in Crimson will have to play its best game so far to whip the Huskies, who lead the Boston area colleges with a record of eight wins and one defeat. The team bounced back from a loss to B. U. last week, which ended its six-game winning streak, to whip hot Rhode Island State squad in ten innings last Saturday.
Husky Coach Herb Gallagher will start either junior right hander Jack Costello, who has seen action against the Crimson in past years, has a 3 and 1 record, or Don Eason, a left-hander who beat both Springfield and Rhode Island for the Huskies last week. His record stands at five wins, one loss.
Ward Probable Starter
For Harvard, lanky Bob Ward, who pitched a three hitter in his last full outing against Brown, only to lose in the ninth will probably he Coach Stuffy McInnis choice. Ward pitched three innings of relief against Holy Cross, and looked a little wild but given the starting assignment, he usually settles down. Rufe Webb may be the other possible starter, he lasted form innings against M.I.T. last Wednesday but is about ready to hit his stride.
