Denied Winter Campus Housing, International Students Scramble to Find Alternative Options
Women will not be lodged in specially reserved House rooms during the Regatta Weekend, Housemasters decided at a recent meeting.
At the suggestion of the Crimson Key Society, sponsors of the weekend, the Housemasters considered the possibility of setting aside an entry in each House to accommodate women guests, but after careful consideration, they adjudged the plan impracticable.
General feeling among the masters was favorable toward the proposal but it was felt that the Houses are not in a position to put it into effect. If such an arrangement could be worked out, there would be no other objections.
Complications cited included the geographical positions of the entries, insurance for both the possessions of the guests and the regular occupants, matrons, and the general difficulties in initiating the project.
The feeling was also expressed that undue pressure might be placed on the regular occupants to vacate the rooms.
