John H. Finley '25, Master of Eliot House, yesterday labeled the popularity of Eliot House in the freshman preference list as "a sheer accident."

"For some unknown reason certain freshmen get an idea about where they are going and it starts a trend through the Yard," he said.

Finley thought that one of the great advantages of the new tutorial system is that men will pick their Houses for the tutors and It will tend to equalize the applications in the future.
