Varsity basketball lettermen yesterday elected Richard Anthony Lionette '53 of Lowell House and Everett, Massachusetts, as captain for the 1952-53 season.
He succeeds John Stevenson who captained the five this year.
Lionette was the second highest scorer on last season's squad. His specialties are a hook shot that is almost impossible to stop on good nights and a fancy two-hand overhead set shot that he uses from close in.
The new captain also headed the Yardling quintet, when a freshmen, leading the team in scoring and setting an individual point-getting record that still stands.
One of the tallest men on last seasons's squad, the six-foot-five-inch center, who also played on the '52 football squad, was an Everett High School basketball and gridiron star.
