Former Scholarship Student Leaves School of Education To Assume Von Stade's Job

Judson T. Shaplin '42, assistant dean of the Graduate School of Education, will become the new Director of Freshman Scholarships, it was announced yesterday. He will replace F. Skiddy von Stade, Jr. '38, who is to assume the post of Dean of Freshmen July 1.

The new financial aid appointee served as assistant dean of freshmen from January, 1946, until he went to the Graduate School of Education in July, 1949. Shaplin's successor there has not been chosen as yet

Glad to be Back

A member of the scholarship committee of the Graduate School of Education while in its dean's office, Shaplin, himself was a scholarship-holder during his four years as an undergraduate. He has also been a teaching fellow in Education and a member of the Board of Freshman Advisors

After his appointment had been confirmed by the Board of Overseers, Shaplin commented. "I'm sorry to leave the School of Education, but I am very happy to take up work in the College again."
