Griswold Praises Ivy League, ACE Sports Tightening

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President A. Whitney Griswold of Yale yesterday termed the recent restrictions of college sports by the Ivy League and the American Council on Education "signs of intellectual maturity."

Speaking before 1,000 graduates at the 35th Alumni Day program. Griswold stated that there was "strength in this unanimity." He was one of the eight college presidents behind the A.C.E. recommendations which would and spring practice and bowl games and also one of the eight Ivy presidents who last Monday abolished the same measures.

Griswold asserted that the Ivy League's unanimity "bespeaks not only a nation-wide revulsion of the corruption of inter-collegiate athletics but an earnest desire to free higher education from distractions and penalties and focus it upon its vital mission in a troubled world."
