Yardling Quintet Gains 78-44 Win Over Huntington

Freshman basketball Coach Floyd Wilson didn't have a fourth string dressed, but he used a new quintet in each of the first three quarters to trounce short, injury-ridden Huntington Prep, 78 to 44, at the I.A.B. last night.

The Crimson wasn't too disappointed to see highly-touted Frank McLaughlia missing from the Huntington lineup. Varsity coach Norm Shepard, who had come to the game to look him over, seemed less happy about the situation.

Rebounding by center Dick Manning and long set shots by Paul Shaw got the freshmen off to a good start. The first five ran the score up to 21 to 10 by the end of the opening quarter and then retired for the evening.

Then the second quintet, led by Sonay Woodman's seven points, doubled the margin to 42 to 20 at the half. The third platoon played the entire last half, with John Green scoring 16 points to take the honors for the night.

The victory was the seventh in a row for the Yardlings, who had beaten Exeter, 65 to 55, at the I.A.B. last Saturday.
