MacLeish Dedicates Theatre Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Today Sarah Lawrence, College officially opens a new building which is literally Harvard designed, financed, and dedicated.

Marcel Breuer, former research professor of Architecture, was the designer of "The Student Arts Center"; Curt H. Reisinger '12 gave the largest donation ($250,000); and Archibald MacLeish, Boylston Professor of Rhetoric and Oratory, will help dedicate the ultra-modern building at 10:45 a.m. today.

MacLeish to Praise College's Stands

MacLeish said yesterday that he would devote some of his talk to praising the steadfast stand the college has taken against the many charges of Communism between October, 1951, and May, 1952.

Besides a 500-beat auditorium, the $700,000 building has rooms for dancing, workshop, snack bar, and loungers. Breuer followed the technique of Walter Gropius, with whom he worked here from 1937 to 1948.

MacLeish helped win Corporation approval last spring for a University theatre here; necessary funds are still lacking however.
