Tigers' Homer Smith Earns Ap Plaudits For Crimson Game

Princeton's Homer Smith was named Associated Press back of the week yesterday for his performance against the varsity last Saturday at Princeton.

The AP named Smith top back for "simply overpowering Harvard in an awesome display of slam-bang football."

The Princeton junior set a new Ivy League rushing record in the game, while leading the Tigers to their 41 to 21 victory. Smith averaged over ten yards a rush and scored four touchdowns during the game.

His 273 yard rushing total broke the former record of 261 set by Dick Kazmaier against Brown last year.

Smith started the season this year as a linebacker and did not play on offense at all in the Tiger's first game against Columbia. He has played every game since then, however, as first string offensive fullback.
