Professors John K. Fairbank '29, Rupert Emerson '21, and Edwin O. Reischauer will discuss 'Anti-Communism and Public Policy" next Wednesday in their first appearance since they were called "pro-Communist" before the McCarran Committee.
The Liberal Union will sponsor the meeting tentatively planned for Sever 11, but it may be moved to a larger room if the demand is great.
All three men have vigorously denied the charges which were made by Kenneth W. Colegrove, a Northwestern professor. Earlier this month, Fairbank was refused permission to enter Japan to teach there. He had been mentioned this summer before the McCarran group in testimony by Louis Budenz and Elizabeth Bentley, both former active Communists.
