Gilmore New History Lit Chairman, Relieves Perkins; Hugo Head Tutor

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Myron P. Gilmore, associate professor of History, has taken over the chairmanship of the Department of History and Literature. He succeeds Elliott Perkins '23, who resigned over the summer after a long and successful career as chairman.

This change is in line with the policy of most of the departments of the College, which makes it possible for different members of the department to assume the chairmanship in rotation.

The committee of History and Literature voted last sprig that the chairman of that committee and the chairman of the board of tutors in the department should be selected one from History and one from Literature. In accordance with this policy Howard E. Hugo, assistant professor in General Education and a specialist in literature, has replaced Robert S. Schwantes, whose field is history, as chairman of the board of Tutors.

Another change effected over the summer is that the office of the department has been moved from Grays 18 to larger and more luxurious quarters in Holyoke 10 and 11.
