The Business School this summer received $100,000 for research and training in human relations. The money was part of a $300,000 grant to the University, made by the Ford Foundation last October.
The gift was the first contribution the University received from the Ford Foundation, America's richest philanthropic trust, and was to be used for research in behavior and human relations.
No exact requirement was made at the time of the gift as to how it was to be used; it was left up to the seven universities getting such grants to determine the money's use. After receipt of the gift, several sections of the University applied to the president's office for part of the fund, outlining how their work would fit in under the provisions of the donation.
Dean David is one of the directors of the Ford Foundation.
