What started out to be an easy match turned out to be a tight one as the varsity golf team beat Babson Institute yesterday, 6 1/2 to 3 1/2. The Crimson golfers scored five points in individual victories; the other 1 1/2 points resulted from three ties.
In individual matches, number one man Dusty Burke defeated his opponent, 3 and 2. Captain Doug Wilde, playing third won, 3 and 2, while Paul Weissman and Bill Timpson at the fifth and seventh positions won by identical 5 and 3 scores.
Dave Hedberg and Dave Gorman, playing second-and-fourth respectively, garnered a point together by tying their opponents. In the best-of-four-balls matches, Wilde and Gorman won, while Hedberg and Burke tied their opponents.
This afternoon a six-man freshman team travels to Andover.
