The Radcliffe Library's Irwin Room will be transformed into a modern lounge this summer, Librarian Ruth Porritt announced yesterday. The room contains books and magazines for recreational reading.
Bamboo shades, glass doors, and a gray wall-to-wall rug are among the changes planned. Modern easy chairs and divans will replace the present furniture.
A ladies room in the basement and a new roof will be among the other renovations. The second and third floors will receive new tables and chairs, and the walls and woodwork of the second floor will be painted.
Twelve chairs of Radcliffe cherry red leather will be placed on the second and third floors, Miss Porritt added. In addition, the first floor front hall will have a rubber title floor.
Work on the building will begin after Commencement.
