'54 Nine Defeats Boston Teachers'

The freshman baseball team collected nine walks, 11 runs and 12 hits yesterday to beat the Boston Teachers' College freshmen 11 to 7 at Soldiers Field. John Semmelmeyer pitched.

Third baseman Jeb Bray started the bottom half of the first inning with a single, which was followed by two consecutive singles off the bats of Ed Krinsky and George Anderson. George Donovan then hit a sharp grounder that was fumbled by Teachers' shortstop Chuck Howlett and two runs scored. A single by Bob Gremp made the score 3 to 0.

From then on the game was a "comedy of errors" to see which team could score the most unearned runs. Together the teams committed 16 errors.

The freshmen will meet Brown University at 3 p.m. today at Soldiers Field. Pat Groper is scheduled to pitch.
