Baxter Adds Name to Monitor's Supporters

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

James Phinney Baxter '26, President of Williams College and an authority on the ironclad warship, telegraphed Headquarters yesterday that he is "glad to support" the American Patriots for Raising the Monitor campaign. Baxter also backed the plan to make the vessel a national shrine.

Further support has come from the Midshipmen's Club of the University of Michigan and the editors of the Columbia Spectator. A Spectator editorial called the Navy's apathy "a national disgrace."

Previously the campaign had been supported by Lowell Thomas and the Cambright City Council. The American Society to Fight Lost Causes is reported to be looking into the matter.
