In a thrill packed game that wasn't decided until the closing minutes, the Yardling lacrosse team edged a strong Exeter squad, 12 to 11, on the prep school's field Saturday. Dave Rogers scored the winning goal on a pass from Monk Aiello.
Phil Waring with three goals and two assists and Aiello with four tallies and an assist tied for scoring honors, while Johnny Jones was outstanding on defense.
The freshmen reacted from Wednesday's defeat by Deerfield to play their best game of the season and hold Exeter 6 to 6 until the half. In the third quarter the Red and Gray poured in five goals. Aiello, Charlie Baldwin, and Waring each flipped one in, but Exeter led, 11 to 9, going into the last stanza.
