A tight basketball game and a possible Eastern League victory may be in store for Crimson fans tonight when the varsity meets Princeton at 8:30 p.m. in the Indoor Athletic Building. The Tigers defeated the Crimson by one basket in January, 49 to 47.
High-scoring Jim Gabler may not play for Shepard's forces. Still feeling weak from the flu, he missed practice yesterday, and will play tonight only if his condition has improved. If Gabler is unable to start, Shepard will use Bob Bramhall in his place.
Princeton, primarily a sophomore team, has not improved noticeably since its early season victory. Last Saturday it had a tough time defeating Dartmouth, 70 to 69, winning by virtue of a last minute basket.
The Tigers, fourth-place team in the Eastern League, use a weaving offense to free men just past the foul line. From there, Captain Mike Kearns and sophomore Dave Sisler get most of their points on jump shots. Weak spot on the Princeton quintet is the center, where six-foot-seven sophomore Foster Cooper is a little clumsy and inexperienced for Ed Smith.
The freshmen, seeking their 11th victory in 13 games and their ninth straight, play Huntington School at 6:45 p.m. Floyd Wilson, Yardling coach, will start Captain Bill Dennis, Ed Condon, Ed Blodnick, Bob Gremp, and Eddie Krinsky.
The Varsity lineups:
Harvard--Murphy, g; Hickey, g; Smith (C), c; Gabler, f; Stevenson, f.
Princeton--Sisler, g; Reed, g; Cooper, c; Kearns (C), f; DeVoe, f.
