Key Presents Calendar Plan To Activities Leaders Today

Common Key Society is compiling a master activities calendar of all University extra-curricular functions. Michael G. Yamin '53, chairman of the calendar committee, announced last night.

The Key was invited representatives of extra-curricular organization to a meeting at 3 p.m. this afternoon in the Student Activities Center to discuss their proposal "Competition among the extra-curricular organizations is clearly a healthy thing," Yamin pointed out, "but in the past ten much competition has produced unfortunate results."

Yamin stated that a master calendar, listing all functions far in advance, would permit every organization to plan its activities without fear of undue conflict. He added that unless all organizations co-operate with the Key in contributing to the calendar, it cannot serve its purpose.

The calendar will be posted in the Key office at the Student Activities Center, where it will be available for inspection at any time. Officers of organizations will be able to check with the Key before setting the date of an event.

Official University functions will also be listed on the master calendar. Yamin commented, "as a further service to the organizations."

The Crimson Key also publishes the extra-curricular activities bulletin for the Student Council and will compile material for the bulletin from the master calendar.

"The conflict of plays, musicals, and other events during this week is a good example of the situation the Key hopes to avoid through the calendar," Yamin concluded.
