Eleven intramural squads leave for New Haven this morning to take on the Eli Colleges and halls in the opening of the Harvard-Yale athletic weekend.

Center of interest at Yale today will be the 2.30 p.m. football game between once-tied Leverett House and favored. unbeaten Calhoun College for the intramural championship. Harvard is other six House will play their sister Colleges, while Dudley meets Timothy Dwight, traditional rival of Leverett.

One touch football game and two soccer games will also be played.

LEVERETT vs. CALHOUN

Two top flight defensive teams will battle for the Harvard-Yale intramural football championship today when Leverett House meets undefeated and heartily favored--Calhoun College on the Yale J.V. field starting at 2:30 p.m.

Leverett showed the strongest defense in the House league while winning six games against only one loss. But the rampant Senators were unscored upon in their six-game season.

Calhoun features a versatile offense built around the up-the-middle power of Eli fullback Kurt. Marshall second team to Eli Captain Bob Spears last year--and the passing attack of Bill McCandless--brother of former Princeton star, Hugh.

WINTHROP vs. DAVENPORT

Near-miss Winthrop should not have too much difficulty with Davenport College this afternoon in a game starting at 3:15 p.m. The second-place Puritans were ousted from the House title last week, when they lost to underdog Leverett by one touchdown.

The Davenport Hybrids have been weak this season, and several times have been the victims of shutouts. Passer Jim Brown is erratic, but Paul Sapdone is an outstanding kicker.

LOWELL vs PIERSON

Chances will be better for Lowell's Bellboys, tied for second in the House league, to turn the trick against Pierson in a 2 p.m. contest.

The Bellboys, improving as the season progressed, lost only one game and tied strong Winthrop. Pierson's relatively sluggish offense has been paced by fast halfback Charlie Howland.

DUNSTER vs. BERKELEY

Dunster's fourth-place football team will have a tough time at 2 p.m. this afternoon against Yale's Berkeley College. Berkeley was second only to champion Calhoun in North League play in New Haven. Furthermore, Berkeley sports Yale's best intramural passer in the person of Dick Reid. The Mitres also have a very strong line.

ELIOT vs. JONATHAN EDWARDS

This 2 p.m. tussle pits an Eliot House team that finished in a tie for fourth place with a four-and-three record against its sister-college Jonathan Edwards. The Elephants, who were league titlists in 1950, are paced by backs Charlie Cabot and Fred Rhinelander.

KIRKLAND vs. BRANFORD

Kirkland House will be a slight underdog in its game against Branford College today at Yale. Branford, last year's Blue South League champions, have a blown hot and cold all year, but should be near top strength for today's game.

The Deacons will be minus John Tangen, their chief offensive threat, but the addition of Neil Bortz from the J.V. squad is expected to strengthen them. Halfback Ralph Maffai appears to be near top shape for the first time in several weeks.

ADAMS vs. SAYBROOK

The hapless Gold Coasters team, tied for last place in the House league, meets the rival Saybrook Slaves at 3:15 p.m. Saybrook has a passing attack--Bill Berkeley to ends Ed Schmultz and Gene Zabrowski--that provides most of its offense.

DUDLEY vs. TIMOTHY DWIGHT

Ralph Moyer and Bill Moore are the two backs who have paced the Timothy Dwight Prexies to a fair 1951 season. Dudley has been totally outclassed in practically every game this year, and has lost six straight contests to tie Adams for last place in the House league.

OTHER CONTESTS

In touch football Harvard champion Dudley tangles with high-scoring Berkeley at 2:30 p.m. The freshman championship game between Straus North and South Middle has been canceled.

The first intramural inter-college soccer game will have Duster's undefeated, untied, and unscored-upon ten matched with a strong Berkeley team at 2 p.m. Leverett meets Timothy Dwight in an informal soccer game
