Amory Clears Up Incorrect Remarks

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Robert Amory Jr. '36, professor of Law, yesterday cleared up several remarks he made in a recent CRIMSON article on local elections. He said his remarks presented a distorted and inaccurate implication of City Councillor Thomas M. McNamara "with the result that as printed they constituted a grossly unfair and unintended personal attack" on the Councillor.

Amory stated, "In a long interview I mentioned him just twice, observing that both independent and CCA slates included men of various income levels and paying him an unrelated compliment from my point of view in hazarding a guess that he would not necessarily join with Foley and Sullivan in an attempt to oust City Manager Atkinson. In no sense did I intend any reflection on Mr. McNamara's integrity, business acumen, or ability to earn a living and I regret deeply that such an inference was given."
