Diver Pete Dillingham Chosen for NCAA All-American Swim Honors

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Diving star Pete Dillingham '53, of Winthrop House, has been named to the 1951 All America swimming team. Membership on the honorary squad is generally awarded to the ten men in the country who are tops in each event. The choices are based primarily on performances in the N.C.A.A. Championships.

Eastern High Board Champ

Dillingham, the only Harvard representative in the nationals, took fourth place in the low board competition and ninth in the three meter event. He was also Eastern intercollegiate high board champion last year and second only to Yale's Frank Hadlich in the low board. In dual meet competition he was undefeated except for another loss to Hadlich, again in the one meter event; but he returned the next day to top the Yale star in the high dive.

As a freshman he played first string fullback for the Yardling football team, but swimming coach Hal Ulen soon persuaded him to devote himself entirely to diving. Ulen's hopes materialized as Dillingham developed into the finest diver who has performed here in many years.
